Before he chases his first Super Bowl ring, Philadelphia Eagles star Saquon Barkley was reportedly down on one knee giving a ring to his longtime girlfriend, Anna Congdon. 

Barkley is now engaged to Congdon, according to People, as he checks off a major life moment ahead of his biggest career game to date as he and the Eagles head to New Orleans to face the Kansas City Chiefs in Super Bowl LIX this upcoming Sunday. 

"I can’t be the athlete I am and have the success I have so in my career without the help of her," Barkley told the outlet of Congdon.

The two share two children together, daughter Jada, 6, and son Saquon Jr., 2, and their pre-game ritual of special handshakes and kisses has gone viral in Barkley’s first season with the Eagles. 

Barkley and Congdon met at Penn State and have been going strong since 2017. Barkley told People that they will "just sit back and laugh sometimes when [their kids are] over there playing and just smile and think about where everything started."

It started with the New York Giants, who took Barkley second overall in the 2018 NFL Draft after a stellar Nittany Lions career. However, after a rollercoaster six seasons in New York, which ended badly after not getting what he wanted contract-wise, Barkley signed with the Eagles in free agency this past offseason.

Clearly, it was the right move for the running back, as he could have the best running back season of all-time statistically depending on his performance against the Chiefs. 

Personally, the move has been something Barkley says his family has loved, with the city of Philadelphia embracing him right away despite being their rival for years. 

Barkley and his family were at Lincoln Financial Field sharing quite the moment when green and white confetti rained down on the Eagles after dominating the Washington Commanders, 55-23, in the NFC Championship. 

"If I could wrap my arms around this memory, I would…" Congdon captioned an Instagram post of her family celebrating the victory that put them in Super Bowl LIX. Barkley commented, "Love you," with a heart emoji. 

It has been quite a celebratory year for Barkley, who led the NFL in rushing yards with over 2,000, and it could continue on his 28th birthday, which just so happens to fall on Super Bowl LIX. 

"The best birthday gift you can have is playing in the Super Bowl and the only thing better than that is winning the Super Bowl on your Birthday," he said to People. 

Barkley added that he is not focused on his birthday plans at all, hoping to "continue to play at a high level" to help his team beat the Chiefs, a team chasing NFL history as the only squad to win three straight Lombardi Trophies. 

Barkley scored three touchdowns for the Eagles in the NFC Championship victory over the Commanders, and he certainly will try to do so again in New Orleans, where his now-fiancee and family will be cheering him on.

Across all sports, every new class in their respective Hall of Fame brings about spirited debate. This year for the Pro Football Hall of Fame is no different. 

But for one finalist, the circumstances surrounding his place in Canton are more than just a case of championships and stats. His place in the Hall of Fame will likely come down to a tragic case of a murder-suicide.

There are five total finalists for the 2025 Pro Football Hall of Fame senior class, including a coach and a contributor. The players up for vote are Maxie Baughan, Sterling Sharpe and Jim Tyrer. 

Of the three, the biggest questions surround Tyrer.

Born in Newark, Ohio, on Feb. 25, 1939, Jim Tyrer is largely considered one of the most dominant offensive tackles of his era. 

After playing football at Ohio State, where he was an All-America choice, Tyrer began his 14-year playing career with the Dallas Texans of the American Football League in 1961. His sheer size and strength at left tackle translated to early success on the field, which carried over with the team’s move to Kansas City and the eventual merger with the NFL.

Tyrer was a three-time AFL champion and nine-time AFL All-Star, and he helped the Chiefs win the franchise’s first Super Bowl in 1970. He was a starter in each of his 13 seasons with Chiefs, playing in 180 consecutive games for the third-longest streak in team history. 

Tyrer was selected as a member of the AFL’s All-Decade Team of the 1960s and is in the Chiefs’ Hall of Fame. He played his final season for Washington in 1974. 

It’s no doubt that Tyrer’s career is worthy of consideration for the Pro Football Hall of Fame, but the tragic events that took place on Sept. 15, 1980, have kept his name off the ballot for more than 40 years. 

FORMER NFL STAR FRANK WYCHECK SUFFERED FROM CTE PRIOR TO DEATH, RESEARCHERS SAY

Tyrer was a finalist for the Hall of Fame in his first year of eligibility and was largely expected to be selected. But in the fall of 1980, that would change. 

According to KCTV’s reporting at the time, Tyrer shot his wife, Martha, dead just after 4 a.m. in the bedroom of their home while their four children slept before eventually taking his own life. He was 41 and Martha was 40. 

While those closest to the family, including teammates, were shocked by the news, reports would soon surface that there were issues. 

ESPN reporter Mark Fainaru-Wada told NPR last week that Tyrer had struggled to find work after his playing career had ended and that the family was experiencing financial struggles. There were also rumors that Tyrer had been dealing with "depression" and "paranoia." 

But in the nearly 45 years that have passed and with the development of science with regard to the long-term effects of playing in contact sports, many argue that Tyrer likely suffered from chronic traumatic encephalopathy (CTE).  

Dr. Doug Paone, who treated Tyrer days before the murder-suicide, told the Kansas City Star’s Vahe Gregorian in December that he is confident that Tyrer had CTE. 

"If it walks like a duck, it quacks, it has webbed feet and water goes off its back, it’s not a zebra: It’s CTE," he said. "(Tyrer) would be the poster child for CTE."

At least three of the five senior finalists will be elected to the Pro Football Hall. They will need 80% of the votes from the Selection Committee, who will be allowed to vote for three finalists. If none receive that percentage, then the sole finalist with the most votes will be inducted into the 2025 class.  

For Tyrer, the voters appear divided. ESPN spoke to some last month when Tyrer was named a finalist. 

"It's morally abhorrent and unacceptable to put a murderer in the Hall of Fame if you have the power to do otherwise," longtime voter Jason Cole told the outlet, adding that he has "incredible compassion for the family."

Cole noted that considering CTE would be "opening up a giant can of worms."

Opposite of that, Gregorian told ESPN that CTE could be used to explain the tragedy that led to Tyrer and his wife’s untimely death. 

"I think when you see that this is a man, who had for decades lived a life that was admired by many, that this change in him was caused by [CTE]," Gregorian said, "... I think to me, it says this was because of severe brain damage, not being of a willful act by this person. I don't know, that makes me look at it differently."

The bylaws of the selection process instruct voters not to consider any off-the-field contributions – good or bad – in their decision-making. The class of 2025 will be announced next Thursday at the NFL Honors in New Orleans ahead of Super Bowl LIX.

American Olympic sprinter Noah Lyles called out Miami Dolphins wide receiver Tyreek Hill after he won the 60-meter at the New Balance Indoor Grand Prix on Sunday.

Lyles crossed the finish line in 6.52 seconds, beating out the Bahamas’ Terrence Jones, Italy’s Marcell Jacobs and fellow Americans P.J. Austin and Trayvon Bromell. After he crossed the finish line, Lyles turned his bib around to the camera.

"Tyreek could never," he said referencing the NFL star wide receiver.

He talked about his challenge to Hill with NBC Sports.

"When you’re ready to actually put some words down, and you’re actually ready to race, see me," he said. "I’m right here. I ain’t going nowhere. But all I know is, your football season’s over. You ain’t got no excuse now."

Hill responded in a post on X. "Get a load of this guy."

He challenged Lyles back in August when the Olympic sprinter won 100-meter gold, but he refused to wager his gold medal in a race. Lyles said he would not even put his medal on the line if Hill wagered his Super Bowl ring, which he won with the Kansas City Chiefs in the 2019 season.

Hill's teammate, Dolphins running back Raheem Mostert, told Fox News Digital in August he believes a few of their other teammates could also hold their own against Lyles in a race.

"I feel like we all could run with him," Mostert said of Lyles. "And I know that Noah Lyles brought up the fact that he would race Tyreek in a 60-yard dash or something like that. Or whatever the case may be. I feel like we all could run that 60-yard dash."

Paul gave his word in a social media post last week.

Barkley has dominated all season, much to New York Giants fans' chagrin. After the team opted to move off him, he became the ninth player in NFL history to rush for 2,000 yards in a season. Had he not rested in Week 18, he very well could have broken Eric Dickerson's single-season rushing record.

In 19 games played this season, including the postseason, Barkley has rushed for 2,447 yards and 18 touchdowns, five of which have come in his last two games.

Seven running backs have won the Super Bowl MVP, but it's been almost 30 years since the last one: Terrell Davis in 1997.

Barkley is 30 yards away breaking Davis' record for the most rushing yards in a season including playoff games.

The superstar running back joined the Eagles on a three-year deal this past offseason, and it's proving to be perhaps their best move in recent memory. Out of his 19 games played, he's rushed for 100-plus 12 times and has eclipsed the 200-yard mark twice.

Including the playoffs, Barkley is averaging 128.8 rushing yards per game. So, it's certainly not out of the question that he could break the running back drought.

He'll just have to do it against the back-to-back reigning champion Kansas City Chiefs.

The NFL’s most famous football family is poised to expand its footprint in the professional ranks when Texas Longhorns quarterback Arch Manning finally declares for the draft.

Indianapolis Colts running back Jonathan Taylor described him as "the future" in a video posted to the Colts’ social media account. Manning threw passes into the end zone to Cincinnati Bengals wide receiver Ja’Marr Chase among others who were gathered in Orlando, Florida, for the game.

"Marshall Manning, man, the future right here," he said. "You are all seeing it at the 2025 NFL Pro Bowl Games. The future’s right here."

Arch is the son of Peyton’s older brother Cooper, making him and Marshall cousins.

Peyton and Cooper are the sons of Archie Manning, the former New Orleans Saints quarterback. He played about 11 years for the Saints as well as the Houston Oilers and Minnesota Vikings. His three sons, including Eli, all played football in some capacity.

Cooper was never able to play pro football, but Peyton and Eli both starred in the NFL. Each won two Super Bowl titles before they retired.

Eli Manning was named a finalist for the Pro Football Hall of Fame in his first time on the ballot. Peyton is already a Hall of Famer.

The National Football League appears to be headed to its fourth continent.

According to a report by the Herald Sun in Australia, the league will play games in Melbourne beginning in 2026.

The Australian outlet reported that up to three games would be played, with the first at the Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG), which will feature two teams with recent success.

One of the games will feature the Philadelphia Eagles and Los Angeles Rams, the Herald Sun says.

The Birds are back in the Super Bowl for the second time in three years after having won it in 2018, while the Rams took home the title three years ago.

The Eagles and Rams are the only two teams that are a part of the NFL's Global Markets Program in Australia, which was made to build fandom and support outside the United States.

The MCG holds roughly 100,000 people.

It wouldn't be the first time the NFL toyed with Australia, as the Denver Broncos and then-San Diego Chargers played a preseason game there in 1999.

Eagles offensive tackle Jordan Mailata was born in Australia. He was a star rugby player who never played football in high school or college.

The league will play in Spain for the first time later this year, with the Miami Dolphins' opponent to be determined. Games have been played in London, Mexico and Germany. The first official overseas game in 2007 featured the Dolphins and New York Giants.

Southwest, Delta and more major airlines have scheduled additional flights for fans traveling for Super Bowl LIX, as the costs of airfare and hotel stays rise in the game's host city of New Orleans.

Southwest recently announced 31 new flights from Kansas City and Philadelphia to New Orleans.

The cost of Southwest's flights vary, depending on the arrival date, but 15 flights to the Super Bowl city from the Chiefs' and Eagles' home base have been added, along with 16 return flights from New Orleans to Kansas City and Philadelphia, according to Southwest.com.

The highest-priced tickets to Louis Armstrong New Orleans International Airport include a nonstop flight from Kansas City, costing $798, and another business class ticket with a layover in Dallas, Texas, for $848 on Saturday, according to Southwest's website.

Delta also added flights in time for the NFL's championship game with first-class tickets exceeding $4,000.

Delta's additional flights will cater to more than 1,300 passengers, officials with the airline announced on Delta's website. Prices range from $400 to $700 or more, depending on departure dates.

Fox News Digital reached out to Delta for comment.

Prices will dip 50% or more for most flight dates after the game, according to Delta's and Southwest's online fare calendars for 2025.

Other flights from Kansas City to New Orleans on Feb. 9, Super Bowl Sunday, are priced around $300 to nearly $700, for those hoping to make it to the game just in time for kick off.

"Last year alone, Southwest added 341 extra flights, supporting a whopping 61 events, such as the Kentucky Derby and college football games," The Points Guy, a New York-based travel blog, reported.

A Southwest spokesperson told Fox News Digital that the airline is "excited to welcome Philadelphia and Kansas City fans on our extra flights as they travel to and from New Orleans."

United and American Airlines have also added additional flights, and are including "Easter eggs for Chiefs and Eagles fans," according to Nola.com.

As for overnight bookings, motel and hotel prices range from $550 to $4,700 or more for a two-night stay during Super Bowl weekend.

More than two dozen hotels are booked from Feb. 8 to Feb. 10, according to Hotels.com search results. Prices will decrease, and availability appears to return to normal towards the end of February.

For travelers who are looking for the full experience, ticket packages that include hotel accommodations are listed for sale through the Chiefs' and Eagles' partnership with On Location, the Official Hospitality Provider of the NFL.

One package, which includes an official game ticket and "pregame hospitality," is currently sold out online.

Other options with a starting price of $7,005 per person are still available.

Eric Bieniemy appears to be returning to the NFL ranks. On Saturday, CBS Sports reported that Bieniemy agreed to become the Chicago Bears running backs coach.

Bieniemy is the latest assistant to land with the Bears, as recently hired head coach Ben Johnson continues to fill out his coaching staff. Bieniemy spent last year handling the offensive coordinator duties at UCLA, during the football program's first season in the Big Ten Conference.

Bieniemy was a standout running back in college before he became a second round NFL Draft selection in 1991. He also has experience coaching ball carriers, serving as the running backs coach at Colorado — his alma mater — from 2001-02.

He took the same job at UCLA from 2003-04, before making the leap to the professional ranks when he was named the Minnesota Vikings running backs coach in 2006. Bieniemy returned to Colorado in 2011 when he was named the Buffaloes offensive coordinator. However, Bieniemy largely rose to prominence when he moved into his role as the Kansas City Chiefs offensive coordinator.

Bieniemy was a member of two Super Bowl winning coaching staffs in Kansas City, but he opted for a change of scenery after the 2022 season. 

Bieniemy was named the Washington Commanders assistant head coach and offensive coordinator in 2023 and was given the opportunity to call plays. Chiefs head coach Andy Reid served as the primary offensive playcaller during Bieniemy's tenure in Kansas City.

Bieniemy is now expected to bring his championship experience to Chicago's coaching staff. Meanwhile, Johnson selected former Denver Broncos tight end coach Declan Doyle as the Bears offensive coordinator, while Antwaan Randle El will serve as the team's assistant head coach. Randle El worked with Johnson in Detroit, handling the Lions wide receivers coaching duties.

 Bieniemy's former team, the Chiefs, will meet the Philadelphia Eagles in Super Bowl LIX on Feb. 9.

NFL star A.J. Brown made headlines when cameras recently captured him passing time during a Philadelphia Eagles game reading a book, "Inner Excellence," by self-help author Jim Murphy.

Brown's sideline routine contributed to a spike in book sales, with "Inner Excellence" quickly jumping into the top spot on Amazon's trending list the day after the Eagles' wild-card win over the Green Bay Packers. 

The book ranked 523,497 prior to the sudden increase in attention brought on by Brown.

Brown and the Eagles will now turn the page and focus on preventing a Kansas City Chiefs Super Bowl three-peat. The Eagles are hoping to avoid a repeat of the 2023 Super Bowl.

Two full NFL seasons have passed since the loss, and the Eagles could still be haunted by the memory of how they let a chance at winning the franchise's second Super Bowl championship slip away.

A play here, a play there, and the Eagles could have been Super Bowl champions.

Quarterback Jalen Hurts replied "next question" when asked his most vivid memory from the 2023 Super Bowl, and Brown recounted a missed opportunity for him to score a touchdown that could have changed the outcome.

"The play really kept me up thinking about, ‘How did I miss that?’ and what I got confused on," Brown said.

The play?

"I don’t want to get into it because we may run it back," he said.

Brown finished the 2024 season with 67 catches and a team-high 1,079 yards despite missing four games. It was the third consecutive year Brown surpassed 1,000 receiving yards.

"A.J. is the best receiver that this city has ever seen," Eagles coach Nick Sirianni said.

Brown was rewarded in April with a three-year contract extension that included $84 million in guaranteed money. He was about to become the highest-paid wide receiver in the NFL at $32 million a year until Minnesota Vikings wideout Justin Jefferson's deal topped his later that summer.

While Brown is paid like an elite receiver, he said he felt like nothing but a "paid actor" at the 2023 Super Bowl.

Brown said if he had his way, the Eagles would arrive in New Orleans on Friday, hold a walk-through Saturday and play the game Sunday. His Super Bowl experience was like something out of a movie in which he played the role of a football player. He has tried to steel his emotions amid this year's Super Bowl hype.

"It’s about us, but it’s not about us," he said. "We have so much we have to do for everyone else. The media, the fans. There’s only so little time that we get to focus on what’s important, and that’s the game."

Brown said he’s been turning down media requests "left and right" because, when it comes to Super Bowl hype, "none of this stuff matters."

The Super Bowl kicks off at 6:30 p.m. ET Feb. 9 from the Caesars Superdome in New Orleans.

American sports agent Leigh Steinberg has represented some of the biggest stars in football history, and now he's taking another step in his long-time side passion of combating one of the sports' biggest dangers – concussions.

Steinberg recently launched the Leigh Steinberg Foundation, which aims to educate parents and fund research for concussion treatment in sports. 

"It's our effort to raise money for research to promote awareness, prevention and cures, to put money aside for at-risk kids who have neurological problems or concussion that can't get treatment, and to fund research," Steinberg said. "We have a doctor's committee with 10 doctors on it, and we'll be raising money to try and bring more healing to this."

The veteran agent is also set to throw a Super Bowl party in New Orleans, and is inviting several neurologists from across the country to educate the attendees on concussions as well.

And as Super Bowl LIX marks the final game of the 2024 football season, the country will look to turn the page on one of the scariest years for brain injuries in recent history.

In Alabama, Morgan Academy junior quarterback Caden Tellier received an injury to the head during the third quarter of his team's 30-22 win against Southern Academy in Selma, Alabama, in late August. 

Just days after that, a 13-year-old in West Virginia died after suffering a head injury at a middle school football practice. Eighth-grader Cohen Craddock, who played defensive line for Madison Middle School in Madison, suffered severe brain bleeding and swelling after making a tackle.

Months after that, Alabama A&M University football player Medrick Burnett Jr. died after sustaining a serious head injury in a game in late November. 

Steinberg says his inspiration to pursue this cause came when he saw many of his own quarterback clients get repeatedly hit in the head during the late 1980s. 

"They kept getting hit in the head, and when we went to the doctor and we asked, ‘How many is too many hits, and when should they contemplate retiring?' The doctors had no answer because the brain is the last frontier of medical research," Steinberg told Fox News Digital in an exclusive interview.

Steinberg started hosting panels with players to promote awareness for brain health in the 1990s. At one of those panels, an appearance by neuropathologist Bennet Ifeakandu Omalu, the subject of the movie "Concussion," convinced Steinberg of how many concussions are too many. 

Steinberg was told that three or more was the magic number. After that, Omalu said, there's an "exponentially" higher rate of Alzheimer's, Parkinsons, premature cynicity, horno traumatic encephalopathy and depression. 

But Steinberg has seen players play after suffering a third concussion. 

"Part of the problem with players is they're in a state of denial when it comes to their physical health," Steinberg said. "Since they were in pop culture, little league they believe that real men play this play every circumstance. The concept of long-term health is an abstraction. So, it's hard to get them to protect themselves, and it's just very difficult." 

Steinberg even admits that he has seen some of his very own clients suffer at least three concussions, and it gave him reservations about encouraging them to keep playing afterward.

"I would talk about with them privately, because ultimately it's their decision, but I try to be a voice that would interject into the dialogue the fact that traumatic brain injury is real, it has long-term consequences," Steinberg said, adding that those conversations took place before recent advancements in medical technology that give clearer pictures and treatments of a person's brain health.

Steinberg has specialized in representing star quarterbacks as an agent. He presented the No. 1 overall pick in the NFL draft eight times, while representing 62 total first-round picks. His client list includes NFL legends like Troy Aikman and Steve Young. 

This past NFL season was a particularly bad year for quarterback brain injuries.

Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Jalen Hurts, who is set to lead his team in the Super Bowl in New Orleans, suffered a concussion in the first half against the Washington Commanders in Week 16. It ended his regular season, but he returned in time for the playoffs. 

But prior to the playoffs, Hurts said that he didn't remember an incident that happened on the sideline, just moments after he suffered the concussion. 

"It's so far long ago, I don't really remember," Hurts said to reporters on Jan. 10. "Been out of routine, you go through a routine everyday, and being out of that is challenging. I'm obviously dealing with different symptoms, ain't fun either."

Miami Dolphins quarterback Tua Tagovailoa suffered a concussion – the third of his NFL career – in an early-season tilt with the Buffalo Bills, on a nationally televised game. Tagovailoa had previously suffered multiple concussions within the span of just weeks in the 2022 season. The third of his career sparked national controversy, as some former players and media pundits called on him to retire. 

Tagovailoa returned to play this past season anyway. 

Jacksonville Jaguars quarterback Trevor Lawrence suffered a concussion when he was the victim of an illegal hit by Houston Texans linebacker Azeez Al-Shaair during a game in early December. The hit ended Lawrence's season, as Al-Shaair was suspended for three games and heavily criticized by the public and even an NFL executive. 

As the country now turns its attention to New Orleans for Super Bowl LIX between the Eagles and Kansas City Chiefs, Steinberg will have a presence as he looks to counter the danger that comes with championship-level football.

Earlier this week, a post on X surfaced that Dungy was considering a run for Michigan's U.S. Senate seat next year as a Republican.

But the rumor was unfounded, the NBC analyst said.

"Not sure where this idea came from but it didn’t come from me," Dungy said.

"I love my home state of Michigan. I pray they will elect a Senator who honors the Lord and leads the people well. But I can assure you it won’t be me."

Dungy then gave some pretty decent reasons as to why he won't run.

"Number 1, I’m not a politician and Number 2 I live in Florida."

Democrat senator Gary Peters will not be seeking a third term next year. He was first elected in 201 and won re-election six years later but in a much tighter race. He earned 49.9% of the vote against 48.2% by John James in 2020 after defeating Terri Lynn Land in convincing fashion, 54.6% to 41.3%.

Georgia is the other state that will have a Dem-held seat up for election in 2016, in a state won by President Donald Trump back in November. 

Republicans have not won a Michigan U.S. Senate race in over 30 years, and Peters' seat has been blue since 1972.

Jason Kelce stepped away from football after the 2023 season. The former offensive lineman spent his entire standout career with the Philadelphia Eagles — the reigning NFC champions.

The Eagles will soon travel to New Orleans to continue preparations for Super Bowl LIX. The Kansas City Chiefs will meet the Eagles at the Caesars Superdome for the big game, creating a rematch of Super Bowl LVII. Jason and his younger brother Travis Kelce competed against each other in that game, with the Chiefs ultimately defeating the Eagles.

Travis was recently named to his tenth consecutive Pro Bowl, while Jason has settled into broadcasting during his first year of NFL retirement. The former Eagles center Kelce signed with ESPN last year and made routine appearances on "Monday Night Countdown" throughout the 2024 football season.

In November, Jason announced he would host "They Call It Late Night with Jason Kelce" starting in early Jan. 2025 and continuing through the NFL postseason. Travis made an appearance on the latest edition of the show and was asked to share a message for Philadelphia fans. 

The Chiefs tight end appeared to shrug his shoulders before responding with "Go Birds, baby!" as the live studio audience inside Philadelphia's concert hall Union Transfer applauded.

Jason quickly pointed to what he perceived as a disingenuous show of support from his brother. "You don't mean that," he said while laughing.

Travis then spoke about his appreciation for his brother before doubling down on his Eagles support. 

"What do you mean? I’m a Jason Kelce fanatic, dude," Travis continued. "I love that guy. I still got all the gang green from you guys’ Super Bowl and your run in Philly. I still got some Philly pride man. I’m wishing the best for those guys, but, you know, uhhh, go birds."

"There’s absolutely no chance you mean that," Jason concluded.

After starting the 2023 campaign with a 10-1 record, the Eagles went on to win just one of their final six games. Philadelphia subsequently suffered a 32-9 loss to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in the wild-card round. 

Kelce announced his retirement shortly after the Eagles' playoff exit. He ended his career with seven Pro Bowls and six First-team All-Pro selections.

The end of the 2024 regular season and the ongoing postseason have been more enjoyable for Philly. The Eagles were presented with the George Halas Trophy last Sunday after the team won the conference title and clinched a spot in the Super Bowl.

A video went viral back in December that featured Mark Gastineau confronting Brett Favre in 2023 about Michael Strahan sacking the Green Bay Packers legend to break Gastineau's single-season sack record.

In the final game of the 2001 season, Favre appeared to fall onto the field before being tackled by Strahan, giving the New York Giants legend the record. (It's since been tied by T.J. Watt.) Gastineau accused Favre of taking a "dive," and the play remains controversial.

Gastineau met Favre at a memorabilia event last year, saying that Favre had "hurt" him and that he was going to "take my sack back" in a heated exchange.

The confrontation was featured in ESPN's 30 for 30, "New York Sack Exchange;" not coincidentally, Favre said he believes the meeting had been planned by "ESPN and/or NFL Films."

"There are athletes from all sports; generally, it’s retired guys. So, you encounter a lot of different guys, but I had no clue, and I really think that was a setup by ESPN and/or NFL Films," Favre told Mihcele Tafoya on her podcast.

Favre said he had spotted a camera "hiding" above a "divider," and admitted he had been a bit worried.

The Hall of Fame QB added that he felt Gastineau "wasn't all there" due to his history of concussions.

Favre took to X shortly after the confrontation went viral, in an attempt to "clear the air," admitting that it "maybe" had "crossed my mind to help Strahan," but he was not trying to "hurt" Gastineau.

"I booted out of a run thinking it would be wide open, saw Strahan standing there and ducked down. The game was over. There was no need for me to do anything spectacular. It probably wasn’t Michael’s best sack or tackle for loss. In a different game or situation, I would have made a bigger effort to avoid the sack or TFL. But at no point was I thinking about hurting Gastineau," Favre pleaded.

Favre added that the incident was "not the kind of moment that should be filmed and released."

Kyle Rudolph left the Minnesota Vikings a couple seasons before they went 14-3 in 2022, when they lost in the first round of the playoffs to the New York Giants.

Two seasons later, they had almost a carbon copy of that campaign. This year, they went 13-4 but had another first-round playoff exit.

"You got to make the plays when it matters most, and they just didn't do it each of those last playoff games," Rudolph told Fox News Digital in a recent interview.

Now, the Vikings have to decide whether to keep Sam Darnold or hand the keys to the offense to J.J. McCarthy.

Minnesota drafted McCarthy with the 10th selection of last year's NFL Draft, and he was in the running to start until a knee injury in the preseason ended his season. That gave the nod to Darnold, who took advantage of the opportunity and had, by far, the best season of his career.

Darnold was playing himself into a lucrative contract until his final two games. Now, who knows what he'll get on the open market?

At the very least, he may get a decent deal like Baker Mayfield's. But even that might be a lot for Minnesota, Rudolph said.

"Well, I think it really, so much in football comes down to the money piece. You know, when you have a salary cap, and you're trying to build a roster, unfortunately, you have to make decisions that are solely based on the ramifications of the salary cap and what that does for your roster," Rudolph said. 

"So, when you look at Sam Darnold and the year that he had in Minnesota, there's just so many factors that go into it ultimately for Sam. Does he want to go to the highest bidder? Do I think Minnesota can be the highest bidder? No, I do not. You have so much other talent on that roster that they would like to keep and have to pay. If that's what Sam decides, and he wants to go to the highest bidder, I don't think Minnesota has a chance. 

"If Sam says, ‘I love playing for Kevin O'Connell. This is the best year of my career. He brings the best out of me, I love being on this team,’ I think he would have to take some sort of a discount. And then the third piece that comes in is, ultimately, you always have the franchise tag. 

"So, if they were decide to franchise tag Sam, they could keep him on that one-year franchise tag deal. But, again, that makes things really, really tough on the salary cap because that's a one-year full salary cap hit. So, it'll be interesting what they decide.

"To this point, Kevin [O'Connell] has proved that it really doesn't matter who the quarterback is. Jaren Hall, Josh Dobbs, Kirk Cousins, Sam Darnold — he's going to get the most out of him, and they're going to go win football games."

The Vikings will be home watching the Philadelphia Eagles try to dethrone the Kansas City Chiefs, who are in their fifth Super Bowl in the last six years with a chance to three-peat.

It's widely been argued Kansas City has the refs on their side. But Rudolph disputed the idea of any conspiracy or favoritism.

"If you go and look at the statistics and dive into kind of like where are the Chiefs compared to every other team in the NFL in terms of calls for and calls against, they're kind of right there in the middle of the pack," Rudolph said. 

"But what is different about the Chiefs, they're on national TV almost every week. They're playing in primetime a whole lot. They're always making deep playoff runs, five out of six years in the Super Bowl. Obviously, you have all the off-the-field publicity with Travis [Kelce] and Taylor [Swift] and Patrick’s stardom. It’s just, you see it a lot more.

"They look for things that trigger, ‘Oh, that's a foul. That's a penalty.’ It’s the slightest jersey grab, but that’s something that triggers their psyche to say, 'Oh, I saw that jersey grab, I'm throwing the flag.’ It's just an immediate reaction to them. So, no, I don't think there's favoritism. Obviously, in the world that we're in today, if that were ever to be the case … we have all the resources in the world to find out … right? We would know."

Rudolph spoke to Fox News Digital on behalf of his own charity, Alltroo, where fans can donate to the campaign, and in turn, those dollars go directly to players' charities. But Rudolph and his partners have added a couple of twists.

This year, with just a $10 donation to Alltroo, fans can win both a trip to the Super Bowl with Drew Brees in New Orleans and an opportunity to announce a draft pick in Green Bay later this year if they donate to a Walter Payton Man of the Year nominee's charity. 

Considering that 94% of people who donate to Alltroo had never donated to a nonprofit before, Rudolph says it's a "win-win" for everyone.

"What we wanted to create was an opportunity for die-hard sports fans, not just the high-net worth individuals or the big corporate brands, to have an opportunity to support us. And then the flip side is people are winning once-in-a lifetime experiences and items that may be out of reach. 

"So, trying to create that win-win scenario where we're raising additional funds for charity that wouldn't otherwise be, and then, ultimately, offering these once-in-a lifetime experiences to fans that otherwise wouldn't be able to afford it," Rudolph said, noting that Super Bowl prices are "insanely out of price for a lot of people."

"Whatever you're willing to donate to these players’ causes, 100% of the proceeds will go directly to these player causes. So, we can just be the vehicle that passes through these donations and then, at the end of the day, a lucky fan's gonna have the opportunity to go up there and announce a draft pick at the draft and realize someone else's dream. 

"So, all in all, super cool for me to have the opportunity as a former nominee to really spearhead this initiative on behalf of the league. For as little as a $10 donation, you have a chance to win."

Patrick Mahomes is on the fast track of surpassing Tom Brady as the NFL's greatest ever.

With a win in this year's Super Bowl, Mahomes would become the first player to win four rings before turning 30.

And if you compare the quarterbacks' first seven full seasons, Mahomes' numbers trump Brady's.

Brady won more than half of his rings after turning 37, cementing himself in the conversation. But the chatter will be hot and heavy if the Kansas City Chiefs can finish a three-peat, something no team has done in the Super Bowl era.

Rob Gronkowski had a front-row seat for Brady's illustrious career, winning four titles with him, three in New England, and one more in Tampa Bay. 

"Good thing I went back to football and did that," Gronkowski recalled in a recent interview with Fox News Digital.

But even Gronk knows his quarterback might be in trouble. However, it will be tough, and there's a reason why Brady has the upper hand for the time being.

"In order for Patrick Mahomes to dethrone (Brady), it’s gonna be tough because Tom beat him twice in playoff football. We absolutely demolished Patrick Mahomes," Gronkowski said, referring to the 2021 Super Bowl.

Advantage, Brady.

But that doesn't mean there's no chance for Mahomes. Gronk said Mahomes doesn't even need to match Brady in titles before being in the conversation.

"He’s gonna have to win about five, six championships in order to get in that conversation of being the greatest ahead of Tom Brady," Gronk said.

Those sentiments echo those of Victor Cruz, who already has Mahomes as the "No. 2" to Brady.

"To me, I can’t put him above [Tom] Brady just yet, but he’s right there. He’s 1A, 1B for me," Cruz told Fox News Digital in October. 

"If he gets to five and he continues to keep his team relevant year in and year out, when we look up at the numbers, it’s gonna be insane just to see where he nets out and just to see when it’s all said and done where he is, because what he’s doing thus far, it's pretty special."

First, the Chiefs will have to get through the Philadelphia Eagles, who the Chiefs beat two years ago in the Super Bowl to get Mahomes his second title. He earned his third last year against the San Francisco 49ers, the same team Mahomes beat for his first ring.

"This sets the tone," Lusita said, and "is especially helpful for those who do have dietary restrictions."

Options that offer popular appeal are a win. 

"Go for a wide range of appetizers, both hot and cold, in addition to the basic chips and dips that we all love," Lusita said. 

"Include veggies and fruit options, as well as main dishes like sandwich boards or hot-food classics like pasta or pizza."

In the final quarter, keep your dessert offerings easy. 

"I love to pop in some small dessert options at a party as well," said Lusita. "Easy grab-and-go cookies, brownie bites or ice cream bars are typically a huge hit."

Decorate your party space to excite the team. 

"Set the mood of your party with fun, colorful decor, comfy seating and upbeat music, so when they arrive, it brings the energy up right from the start," Lusita told Fox News Digital.

"Hosting the big game-day party seamlessly is creating a good vibe and giving your guests choices which makes them feel a part of the party."

Plus, providing an environment where people can just kick back and relax without having to worry about what they can or can't eat keeps them coming back year after year, she said.

As the host, you want to enjoy the game as well, so allowing guests to mix their own drinks is a winning play.

A do-it-yourself drink bar "is a hit at any gathering, but especially for the Super Bowl," Pollock told Fox News Digital. 

She suggested setting up a station for guests to create their own cocktails and mocktails throughout the game. 

"For some extra fun, make a pre-batched mocktail themed for each team and see whose drink goes quicker," Pollock said. "Plus, guests can always turn their mocktails into cocktails by setting out liquor to add."

Be sure to set out a cooler filled with canned drinks, water and children's options, she said.

During the Philadelphia Eagles’ beatdown of the Washington Commanders in the NFC championship, there was an odd moment at the goal line in the second half when Commanders linebacker Frankie Luvu tried to stop a "tush push" by jumping over the offensive line. 

But he was called for encroachment … multiple times. 

"Inside the NFL" caught the moment Luvu leaped over the Eagles’ offensive line without the ball being snapped. And, because he did it so many times, referees stepped in.

What was said, though, shocked many people, including Commanders quarterback Jayden Daniels. 

"Encroachment, defense, No. 4," the referee said. "Washington has been advised that, at some point, the referee can award a score if this type of behavior happens again."

"Award a score? You can give them a touchdown?" Daniels responded on the sideline.

Although it worked out in their favor, the Eagles' defenders watching their offense about to punch in another score never heard of the rule either. 

"Next time they do that, they award a score?" Darius Slay asked fellow defensive back Cooper DeJean. 

"The refs can give us a touchdown I guess if they do it again or something," DeJean responded. 

The obscure rule is found in the NFL Rulebook as Rule 12, Section 3, Article 4. 

"PALPABLY UNFAIR ACT: A player or substitute shall not interfere with play by any act which is palpably unfair. 51 Rule 12 Penalty: For a palpably unfair act: Offender may be disqualified. The Referee, after consulting the officiating crew, enforces any such distance penalty as they consider equitable and irrespective of any other specified code penalty. The Referee may award a score."

The rule is for obvious unfair situations, and referees felt Luvu consistently jumping the gun on his leap to stop Jalen Hurts and the tush push was too much because the Eagles didn’t snap the ball. 

Hurts eventually got into the end zone on a tush push for his third rushing touchdown against the Commanders in the 55-23 rout.

NFL rookie Xavier Worthy is sharing some details about meeting Taylor Swift. 

The music star made her way to the field inside Arrowhead Stadium shortly after the Kansas City Chiefs defeated the Buffalo Bills in the AFC championship game. 

Cameras captured Worthy taking note of Swift's stature moments after he greeted the "Anti-Hero" singer.

"Oh s---," Worthy said as he smiled. "She's taller than me."

The Chiefs' roster lists Worthy at 5-foot-11. By most accounts, Swift stands around one inch shorter than the Chiefs wide receiver. While Swift and Worthy are similar heights when flat-footed, the heels Swift was wearing at the time of the exchange could have made her appear to be taller than Worthy.

Worthy later confirmed Sunday's game marked the first time he met Swift. 

"I just met her." Worthy told ABC 30. "It's the video going viral right now. I was like, 'Damn, she's tall. She's taller than me.'"

Worthy added that Swift recognized him because Kansas City selected him in the first round of April's draft. 

"We were on the field, and she walked right past me and said, ‘Oh you're the one who got drafted?" Worthy said. "So, we met like that. It was cool."

Swift's boyfriend, Travis Kelce, recently said the pop star continues to support him.

"She's fully encouraging me to enjoy playing this game," Kelce said earlier this month.

Kelce, 35, is playing in his 12th season in the NFL. He appeared in 16 of 17 games and finished the year with 823 receiving yards.

The 2024 campaign marked the second consecutive year the star tight end did not reach the 1,000-yard receiving mark, which prompted some questions about whether he would step away once the postseason comes to an end.

"I got all the support in the world to keep chasing these dreams," Kelce added. 

Kansas City has advanced to the last seven AFC title games. The Chiefs will take on the NFC champion Philadelphia Eagles in the Super Bowl Feb. 9 in New Orleans. The Chiefs are vying for an unprecedented third consecutive Super Bowl championship.

After playing six years at Indiana University, Mike Katic has decided to put his NFL dreams to the side.

After initially declaring for last year's NFL Draft, then returning for his final year of eligibility, the former center has decided to join Barstool Sports as a media personality and analyst.

"I’m pumped. This is what I think I was born to do," Katic said on "The Yak" with Dan "Big Cat" Katz. "Football’s great, but I think this is my thing. So, I’m super excited to move in here."

Katic doesn't start officially working until March 1, but he paid a visit to Jon Gruden, who was recently hired by the site, at Barstool's offices. And they had about as much of a greeting as one would predict from a Super Bowl champion coach and a six-year college star.

Immediately after shaking hands, Gruden asked Katic to get into his lineman stance, and the two shared another handshake and hug.

"When [Gruden] tells you to get in a stance, you get into a damn stance!" Katic posted on X.

Katic seemed to hint his playing days were over after the Hoosiers' College Football Playoff loss to Notre Dame when he posted on X, "Thank you Indiana University. Thank you Football."

Katic was likely to be a late-round selection if he had been taken at all. Pro Football Focus graded Katic as the 10th best center in the Power Four conferences.

Katic said he was hired quickly after Dave Portnoy saw him in "three clips doing media" after being connected through a member of the Hoosiers' men's basketball team.

The Pittsburgh native will work out of Barstool's Chicago office after playing in 50 games for the Hoosiers.
