Panama Gives In To Trump, Will Let U.S. Navy Ships Pass Canal For Free

Panama offered free passage to U.S. Navy vessels traveling through the Panama Canal following a meeting between Secretary of State Marco Rubio and Panamanian President José Raúl Mulino on Sunday, according to a senior Trump administration official.

The move will save the United States between $2.5 million and $3 million a year. Reducing the cost of using the canal has been a priority for President Donald Trump, who in December slammed the “exorbitant” rates Panama charged the Navy for passage.

During a tour of the canal, the Panama Canal Authority told Rubio that it would work with the United States to “optimize transit priority of U.S. Navy vessels,” according to a statement from the authority.

Fifty-two percent of transits through the canal have ports of origin or destinations in the United States, according to the authority.

Rubio on Sunday gave Mulino an ultimatum over China’s growing influence over the Panama Canal in a face-to-face meeting.

According to State Department Spokesperson Tammy Bruce, Rubio informed Mulino that Trump has made a preliminary determination that the Chinese Communist Party’s “position of influence and control” over the Panama Canal is a violation of the Treaty Concerning the Permanent Neutrality and Operation of the Panama Canal.

“Secretary Rubio made clear that this status quo is unacceptable and that absent immediate changes, it would require the United States to take measures necessary to protect its rights under the Treaty,” the statement said.

On Sunday night, Mulino announced that his country would not be renewing its agreement with China’s Belt and Road Initiative, and would look into ending the agreement earlier than the set end date.

“One important thing, which is a decision I made and communicated to him, is that the 2017 memorandum of understanding on the Silk Road, part of the Belt and Road Initiative, will not be renewed by my government,” Mulino said. “We are going to study the possibility of whether it can be ended earlier or not.”

Trump has pressured Panama to reduce Chinese influence over the canal or face the United States retaking control. Trump argued that this influence could result in the canal being closed off to the United States, posing a threat to national security and violating the treaty. He also pointed out that the United States was instrumental in building the canal, with many Americans losing their lives during its construction.

The United States ceded the canal to Panama in 1999, pursuant to a 1977 treaty signed by President Jimmy Carter.

Mulino has maintained that Panama controls the canal despite a Hong Kong company operating ports at both sides of the canal.

‘Beyond Repair’: Musk Says Trump Has Given The Go-Ahead To ‘Get Rid Of’ USAID

Elon Musk said early Monday morning that he had received President Donald Trump’s approval to eliminate the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID).

Musk made the comments during a discussion on X with Sen. Joni Ernst (R-IA) as they talked about the work of what Trump has called the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE). The website for USAID, which spends tens of billions of dollars every year on various programs around the world, appears to have been shut down on Saturday.

“It became apparent that it’s not an apple with a worm in it,” Musk said. “What we have is just a ball of worms. You’ve got to basically get rid of the whole thing. It’s beyond repair.”

Musk said that he discussed USAID, which he referred to as a “hornet’s nest,” with Trump multiple times “in detail and he agreed that we should shut it down,” saying that none of the reforms he was pushing for “could be done without the full support of the president.”

Musk added that Trump said “yes” several times after being asked if he was certain he wanted to shut down USAID.

“So we’re shutting it down,” Musk said.

“It is also incredibly politically partisan and has been supporting radical Left causes throughout the world, including things that are anti-American which is insane,” he added.

In recent years, USAID has pushed programs like “comprehensive sexuality education” abroad and spent nearly $2 billion promoting the COVID vaccine around the world.

Ernst said that any program administered by USAID that may actually benefit America should be moved under the jurisdiction of the State Department.

During the same discussion, Musk said that the unelected bureaucracy entrenched throughout the federal government was the fourth branch of government, and the most powerful.

After the discussion with Ernst, Musk made several posts on X continuing to attack USAID.

“We spent the weekend feeding USAID into the wood chipper. Could [have] gone to some great parties. Did that instead,” Musk said.

In another post, Musk said the agency was a “criminal organization” and that it was “time for it to die.”

Trump told reporters Sunday night that his administration was working on getting political radicals out of the organization.

“It’s been run by a bunch of radical lunatics. And we’re getting them out,” he said.

President Donald Trump: “It has been run by a bunch of radical lunatics and we’re getting them out… USAID, run by radical lunatics… and then we’ll make a decision”

USAID workers were told Monday to work from home unless their job required them to be at the agency’s headquarters in Washington, D.C.

“Agency personnel normally assigned to work at USAID headquarters will work remotely … with the exception of personnel with essential on-site and building maintenance functions individually contacted by senior leadership,” an email to staff read.

The email came after two top security officials were reportedly placed on leave after they refused to cooperate with DOGE over the weekend.

Biggest Applause, Longest Standing Ovation At Grammys Goes To LA Firefighters

The biggest applause and longest standing ovation at the 97th Grammy Awards on Sunday went to the members of the Los Angeles County Fire Department.

Nearly two dozen firefighters stepped on stage to present the Album of the Year award as the stars in attendance cheered loudly for them for the incredible work they did while they battled the multiple wildfires that raged in Southern California last month.

Before naming the artists nominated for the night’s biggest honor, Los Angeles County Fire Chief Anthony Marrone thanked everyone for their support. The first responders appeared overwhelmed by the reception.

“Wow, thank you,” Marrone told the audience. “Thank you for supporting all of us and recognizing the heroes that are standing behind me and the sheroes.”

“On behalf of the County of Los Angeles Fire Department, I would like to thank the recording academy for having us here this evening,” he added. “This is a tremendous honor and privilege to be in the company of such talented music industry professionals.”

“As fire chief, I would like to take this opportunity to recognize and thank first responders who came from near and far to battle this wildfire siege,” Marrone continued. “In the midst of unprecedented fire conditions, their selfless acts of courage and commitment were nothing short of inspiring. Our heartfelt condolences and prayers remain with all the families who have lost loved ones, friends, and neighbors, along with everyone who has lost homes, businesses, and been displaced.”

“I am confident that we will recover and rebuild together because we are LA Strong.”

Captain Sheila Kelliher Berkoh then listed off the names of the nominees for Album of the Year: André 3000, Beyoncé, Sabrina Carpenter, Charli xcx, Jacob Collier, Billie Eilish, Chappell Roan, and Taylor Swift. She then pulled the name out of the envelope and announced that Beyonce had won for her “Cowboy Carter” album.

During the ceremony, the fires and communities destroyed in the fires were top of mind as host Trevor Noah announced the academy would accept donations throughout the evening to help with recovery efforts.

Spin Cycle: A Trade War To DEI For?

For those who don’t spend their Sunday mornings glued to the television — and their Sunday afternoons attempting to dig through a week’s worth of network and cable news media spin — The Daily Wire has compiled a short summary of what you may have missed.

With the futures of several of President Donald Trump’s cabinet nominees still hanging in the balance, legacy media outlets jumped on every possible narrative that could be highlighted or spun to cast doubt on his administration as it nears the end of its second week.

Trump’s comments about the horrific plane crash at Reagan National Airport — namely his implication that Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) initiatives played a role in putting fewer or under-qualified individuals into positions that may have put lives at risk — were a popular topic of conversation across the Sunday morning talk shows. Hosts either brought in Democrats who would criticize Trump’s assessment of the situation, or brought in Trump allies and then presented the topic in an adversarial manner.

On ABC News’ “This Week,” Donna Brazile claimed that diversity included “every American” and argued that “it was just a low moment, again, for President Trump.” She criticized the president for not waiting for the results of an official investigation, and attacked him for suggesting that former Presidents Barack Obama and Joe Biden and their policies had anything to do with the crash.

Pres. Trump sparked criticism for claiming, without citing evidence, that diversity, equity and inclusion initiatives were partly to blame for the D.C. plane crash.

On CBS News’ “Face the Nation,” host Margaret Brennan brought in “CBS Evening News” anchor John Dickerson to talk about “the tone” of Trump’s comments on the issue.

Unsurprisingly, Dickerson’s assessment was that the scope of the tragedy would ensure that Trump’s words would stick with the American people — and that the message they got would be that he did not believe minorities were capable of handling certain positions.

Brennan then brought in Rep. Brian Mast (R-FL) to address Trump’s comments, highlighting the Trump administration’s policy regarding equal opportunity particularly for those who have “targeted disabilities.”

Mast, who lost his legs when he stepped on an improvised explosive device (I.E.D.) while serving in Afghanistan, made it clear that he was not going to bite: “There are things that I am suited to do, no doubt, but flying an aircraft, to stick with the subject at hand, would not be one of them … Systemically, is there a big hiring problem across all federal agencies, to include the FAA, where they made the priority diversity and inclusion instead of excellence and performance? Yes, that’s the case.”

Rep. Brian Mast (R-FL), who lost two limbs serving in Afghanistan, says he takes "no offense" to President Trump's remarks linking the deadly aircraft collision to DEI initiatives.

On “State of the Union,” CNN anchor Jake Tapper tried to corner Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy — who had only been confirmed to his post one day prior to the crash — saying, “I just don’t know of any evidence… that DEI had anything to do with the tragedy itself.”

Duffy pushed back, noting that DEI initiatives had impacted the application process until the Trump administration had put an end to them.

Duffy also commented on Trump’s federal hiring freeze, saying that those employees who held “critical safety positions” as air traffic controllers would be exempt: “We’re going to keep all our safety positions in place.”

Tapper also brought in Senator Tim Kaine (D-VA), who appeared only too happy to take a shot at the man who ended his 2016 run for the vice presidency. “The president weighing in while bodies were still being recovered, blaming this on DEI, and when pressed he has no evidence to suggest it, was absolutely stomach turning.”

Kaine went on to accuse Trump of race-baiting, and added, “I think the president didn’t want to be asked tough questions like, ‘Why did you let Elon Musk force the FAA administration to resign?’ When this crash happened, there was no FAA administrator because he had clashed with Elon Musk.”

In addition to Trump’s comments on DEI, media outlets also targeted his actions with regard to implementing tariffs against several nations — with some going so far as to accuse him of intentionally starting a trade war that would necessarily escalate.

“If you’re going to pick a fight in a bar… scope the exits,” Rep. Jaime Herrera-Beutler (D-WA) said on “State of the Union.”

On NBC News’ “Meet the Press,” newly-confirmed Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem assured anchor Kristen Welker that the tariffs would primarily impact Canada, Mexico, and China.

The official X account for CBS’ “Face the Nation” posted the following caption, effectively declaring Trump guilty of setting off an economic chain reaction.

“President Trump launched a trade war over the weekend, enacting sweeping tariffs on Canada, Mexico and China, with all three countries already vowing to retaliate with countermeasures. ‘We should anticipate there could be a tit-for-tat here, because the orders that the president signed Saturday night give him the authority to keep raising tariffs on the three countries if they respond in kind, and that could contribute to an uptick in inflation,’ @edokeefe reports.”

On ABC’s “This Week,” host George Stephanopoulos spoke with Canadian Ambassador to the U.S. Kristen Hillman, who voiced her disappointment in the newly-enacted tariffs.

Female Rapper Praises God For Sobriety After Winning First Ever Grammy Award

Female rapper Doechii praised God numerous times during an emotional acceptance speech when she won her first ever Grammy Award for Best Rap Album during the 97th Grammy Awards show held in Los Angeles.

On Sunday night, the 26-year-old rapper — born Jaylah Ji’mya Hickmon — took the stage after rapper Cardi B called out her name for Best Rap Album for “Alligator Bites Never Heal.” She held back tears as she promised not to make her speech long before talking about the glory of God.

“But this category was introduced in 1989, and two women have won … three women have won — Lauryn Hill, Cardi B, and Doechii,” the rapper said. “I put my heart and my soul into this mixtape. I’ve bared my life.”

“I went through so much. I dedicated myself to sobriety and God told me that I would be rewarded and that he would show me just how good it can get,” she added as she got emotional. “And I have to thank God. I need to thank my beautiful mother for coaching me.”

She went on to thank her label, her fans, and she said “to the swamp,” before she explained that she’s the Swamp Princess, because it’s where she comes from.

“There’s so many people out there who probably don’t know who I am. I call myself the Swamp Princess because I’m from Tampa, Florida,” the rapper said. “Tampa has so much talent … labels, go to Tampa, there’s talent there.”

“The last thing I want to say is … I know that there is some black girl out there, so many black women out there that are watching me right now and I want to tell you: You can do it. Anything is possible,” Doechii said. “Anything is possible.”

“Don’t allow anybody to project any stereotypes on you, that tell you that you can’t be here, that you’re too dark or that you’re not smart enough or that you’re too dramatic or you’re too loud,” she added. “You are exactly who you need to be, to be right where you are, and I am a testimony. Praise God!”

The comments definitely moved the crowd as the stars and performers in the room cheered and gave the young rapper a standing ovation.

Lindsey Graham: U.S. Needs To Support Israel If It Decides To Strike Iran Nuclear Facilities

Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-SC) said over the weekend that the U.S. needs to be ready to support Israel if it decides that it is time to eliminate Iran’s nuclear program.

Graham made the remarks on “Fox News Sunday” as the Islamic regime continues to inch closer to acquiring a nuclear weapon.

“We’re trying to define the world in which we live in accurately,” Graham said. “Senator Fetterman has been a champion for the State of Israel.”

“I went to him and asked him, would you work with me to do a census Senate resolution saying that over decades, Iran has been trying to acquire a nuclear weapon, not a nuclear power plant, that they’re the largest state sponsor of terrorism, that they would blow Israel off the map if they had a nuclear weapon, that they would come after us?” he continued. “And he said, I would be glad to.”

“So what this resolution does, it lays out the case against Iran’s nuclear ambition,” Graham said. “Bibi and the Israelis are going to have to make a decision relatively soon what to do about the Iran nuclear program.”

“This is not an authorization to use force, but I am here to tell you and the audience and the world that I think America should support an effort by Israel if they decide to decimate the Iranian nuclear program, because I think it’s a threat to mankind,” he added.

America should unequivocally support Israel if they decide to decimate the Iranian regime’s nuclear program.

Tom Homan Reveals Staggering Drop In Illegal Border Crossings

Border Czar Tom Homan announced over the weekend that the Trump administration has seen a dramatic drop-off in illegal border crossings since taking over and telling the world that the border is closed.

Homan made the revelation during a Sunday interview on Fox News’ “Sunday Morning Futures” after the administration has been in power for nearly two weeks.

“We’ve got the numbers this morning. The crossings on the border are down 93%. 93%!” Homan said. “That’s a bigger decrease than under the first Trump administration.”

“So, look, I said it, President Trump’s the game-changer,” he continued. “No one has had the success he’s had in securing the border. He clearly understands we can’t have strong national security if we don’t have border security. We need to know who’s coming in, what’s coming in, where, and why.”

“We’ve achieved success on the border already,” Homan said. “We’ve got more work to do. And as far as the deportation operation, I think we got 5,000 arrested the first week, and a majority of them being criminals.”

Homan said that the “non-criminals” that the media was talking about were “arrested in sanctuary cities because you force us into the community rather than arresting the bad guy in jail, and when we find that criminal, he’s most likely with others, and they’re going to go, too.”

“If you want to be a sanctuary city, you’re going to get more agents in the community,” he said.

Margaret Brennan Pivots During Interview After Brian Mast Shows Evidence Of Wasteful Spending

Left-wing host Margaret Brennan was forced to pivot during an interview on Sunday after a guest she demanded evidence from provided evidence that shut down her line of questioning.

The moment happened when Brennan interviewed Rep. Brian Mast (R-FL), Chairman of the House Foreign Affairs Committee, during a Sunday interview on CBS News’ “60 Minutes.”

Mast said that he supported the “purging of people throughout the State Department” and “other agencies where we’re freezing aid,” which he said were “very important and necessary steps to make sure that we secure America.”

“You want to authorize purging of State Department personnel?” Brennan asked. “What does that mean exactly?”

“Well, if you want to take a look at the State Department, where DEI has been a priority over, let’s say, diplomacy, in many accounts, I can give you hundreds of examples of where they were authorizing–” Mast began to say before Brennan cut him off.

“What proof do you have of that?” she asked.

“Sure. Let’s list them off. Half a million dollars to expand atheism in Nepal, $50,000 to do, let’s see, a transgender opera in Colombia,” he said. “$47,000 to do an LGBTQ trans comic book in Peru. $20,000 a pop to do drag shows in Ecuador. Shall I continue with more examples of where DEI was the priority?”

Brennan responded by saying that the government could just have “a review of things” and that foreign aid only comprised “less than 1% of the entire federal budget.”

“So we’re talking small amounts of money by comparison,” she claimed.

Bernie Sanders Suggests He Is Not Closed Off To Confirming RFK Jr.

Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-VT) suggested over the weekend that he was not closed off to confirming Robert F. Kennedy Jr. to be the next Secretary of Health and Human Services.

Sanders left the possibility open during a Sunday interview on CBS News’ “Face The Nation” with host Margaret Brennan.

“I have, up to now, voted for some Trump appointees. A few,” Sanders said. “I voted against most, and I’ll make my decisions next week. Where Kennedy is right is, we are an unhealthy society — a point I’ve been making, many others have been making for a long time. One of the things that concerns me very much, and Kennedy mentioned it, is our life expectancy. How long our people live is five years less than other wealthy countries.”

“And if you’re working class in this country, you live six or seven years lower than if you are rich,” he continued.
“It is an issue we have to deal with. And I think the kind of addictive and poisonous food that the food industry is providing our kids is one of the factors, not many. But when you have Kennedy come forward in saying he cannot — he believes, continues to believe that autism is caused by vaccines despite the fact that there have been a dozen studies over the years which disprove that. When he has other conspiracy theories, when he cannot acknowledge that if you’re going to make America healthy, you’ve got to guarantee health care to all people. He was not clear about the need to take on the greed of the pharmaceutical industry and lower prescription drug costs. So I was not particularly happy with his presentation.”

When asked if some of Kennedy’s responses were “red lines” for him, Sanders responded: “I just don’t go around making these announcements.”

“I will vote when I’ll vote,” he said. “But anybody who watched that hearing understands my deep concerns about Kennedy, but I got to tell you, the conspiracy theories that he is throwing out is not unlike what we’re hearing all over the Trump administration. And to me, what is most important in terms of what’s been happening since Trump has been president, it’s not just him having the three wealthiest people in the country stand behind them. By the way, anybody, any working person in this country, should understand what that means. It means that you can have a government working for the very rich, not for the working class of this country, but the movement toward authoritarianism.”

Secretary Noem Weighs In On Plan To Send Illegal Aliens To Guantanamo Bay

Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem said over the weekend that illegal aliens sent to Guantanamo Bay will have the same rights as they would inside the U.S. and that the plan is not to detain them indefinitely.

Noem made the remarks during a Sunday interview on NBC News’ “Meet The Press” with Kristen Welker when asked about the plan that President Donald Trump introduced last week.

“Due process will be followed and having facilities at Guantanamo Bay will be an asset to us in the fact that we’ll have the capacity to continue to do there what we’ve always done,” Noem said. “We’ve always had a presence of illegal immigrants there that have been detained. We’re just building out some capacity. So we appreciate the partnership of the DoD in getting that up to the level that it needs to get to in order to facilitate this repatriation of people back to their countries.”

“So remember that Guantanamo Bay clearly, by this president, has said that it will hold the worst of the worst, that we are going after those bad actors,” she continued. “This last week, I was in New York City. We were going after people that had warrants out for their arrest on murders and rapes, assaults, gun purchases, drug trafficking. In fact, we had a member of TDA that was one of the ringleaders that we picked up that week, had been trying to buy grenades. These are the types of individuals that we are targeting, we’re removing from communities, and that could end up having a stay at Guantanamo Bay before they are returned home to their countries to deal with.”

When asked if illegal aliens could be held indefinitely at Guantanamo Bay, Noem responded: “That is not the plan.”

“The plan is to have a process that we follow that’s laid out in law and make sure that we’re dealing with these individuals appropriately according to what the state and the national law directs,” she said. “So we will work with Congress to make sure that we’re addressing our legal immigration laws and using Guantanamo Bay appropriately. But it is an asset that we have that we fully intend to utilize.”

Panama’s President Says Nation Will End Major Economic Deal With China After Rubio Visit

Panamanian President José Raúl Mulino said on Sunday afternoon that his country will be withdrawing from communist China’s predatory Belt and Road Initiative after meeting with Secretary of State Marco Rubio.

Rubio’s trip comes as President Donald Trump has signaled that he is willing to use military power to retake control of the Panama Canal if the country does not regain complete control over the operations of the canal from China.

“One important thing, which is a decision I made and communicated to him, is that the 2017 memorandum of understanding on the Silk Road, part of the Belt and Road Initiative, will not be renewed by my government,” Mulino said. “That is a fact.”

“We are going to study the possibility of whether it can be ended earlier or not,” he continued. “I think it is up for renewal in one or two years, because it’s every three.”

“So that initiative which was signed will not be renewed by my government,” he added.

Rubio thanked Mulino for his support of the program to repatriate illegal immigrants, which has reduced illegal migration through the Darien Gap.

The two leaders also spoke about improving the playing field for fair competition by U.S. businesses, and Mulino’s support for a democratic, free Venezuela.

“Secretary Rubio expressed his gratitude for the productive discussion and underscored the United States’ dedication to making both nations safer, stronger, and more prosperous,” the statement added. “He noted this meeting marks an important step in reinvigorating the strategic relationship between the United States and Panama, in line with President Trump’s vision.”

‘The Food Babe’ Vani Hari’s MAHA Mission To Remove Chemicals From Food

The following is an edited transcript of an interview between Morning Wire host Georgia Howe and Vani Hari, aka The Food Babe, on her support for RFK Jr. during his Senate confirmation hearings and how her personal story led her to fight to remove harmful chemicals from children’s food. Catch the full interview on a special Sunday edition of Morning Wire.

Make America Healthy Again champion, RFK Jr., was grilled on Capitol Hill this week as part of his confirmation process to become Health and Human Services Secretary. Despite fierce opposition from some Senators, parents and health advocates on both sides of the aisle have lined up to support him. In this episode we speak with Vani Hari, longtime food activist and New York Times bestselling author who was in the room supporting Kennedy during his Senate confirmation hearings. She explains why she believes parents are finally winning the battle to get chemicals out of kids’ food.

GEORGIA: Joining us to discuss the war over chemical-laced packaged food is Vani Hari, bestselling author, activist, and creator of the Food Babe blog. Vani thanks so much for coming on.

VANI: Thank you so much for having me.

GEORGIA: So first off, tell me a little bit about your path to food activism. How did you become interested in nutrition to begin with?

VANI: My parents came here as immigrants in the 1960s. And when they came to the United States, they were big on adopting the American culture. So when my dad went back to have an arranged marriage to my mother in India and they ended up coming here to live the rest of their lives, the first thing he introduced her to was a McDonald’s hamburger. And that’s how I was raised on an American standard diet. We were one of the only Indian families in Charlotte, North Carolina at that point, where I grew up and where I live now.

So everything was kind of handed to us in terms of what we should be eating and my parents were very trusting of the American food system. As a result, I was really sick as a child. I had eczema, I had asthma, I was in and out of doctor’s offices for most of my life. I was on so many prescription drugs. When my parents would take me to see doctors, they never asked them, like, “What is she eating? What are you feeding her?” They never asked about my diet, they just put me on the next medication. And that is how I grew up.

In my early 20s, I hit rock bottom when I ended up in the hospital having to get my appendix taken out, one of my organs. At the time they said, “Your appendix is something you don’t even need. It’s an organ that just can come out.” They made such a light situation out of it. I started to question what the doctors were telling me. Why did God give us an appendix? Why do we evolve having an appendix? I wanted to find answers. What happened to my appendix and why was it about to burst?

Vani Hari, known as the "Food Babe", speaks at the Green Festival in Los Angeles, California, U.S., on Friday, Sept. 12, 2014. Food Babe is the nom de blog for Hari, a 35-year-old banking consultant turned food activist, who has built a loyal online audience by calling out companies from Starbucks Corp. to Chick-fil-A Inc. for ingredients she deems harmful. So when I started to research what was happening in my body, I found out that I had extreme inflammation, and that was coming from my diet. When I started to make changes shortly after that scare, I remember getting this one big book and there was a concept in it that hit me like a ton of bricks: The majority of foods on the grocery store shelf are dead. They’re not alive. And I thought, that’s how I’ve felt for most of my life. Like a zombie. Not wanting to get up in the morning to go to school. Not wanting to participate in activities or physical sport activities because I didn’t have the energy because of my asthma. So when I started to take the concepts in that book and apply them to my life, I started to eat as much real living food as possible, things like fruits and vegetables and things that I would find at the farmer’s market — my whole life changes. I mean, it was dramatic to the point where I lost all of the weight that I had put on as a result of this lifestyle.

I also started to realize a level of health that I never thought was possible. I got off nine prescription drugs, and the people around me who grew up with me — my relatives, my friends, my family — they were like, “Whoa, you have made a dramatic transformation in your appearance. What are you doing? We want a piece of what you’re doing.” They actually begged me to start a blog to share this information, to share my recipes and what I was doing, and why I suddenly refused to eat candy because it had artificial food dyes. They wanted to know the green drink that I was drinking and what was in it and how they could make it at home.

And this is before we even had a Whole Foods in Charlotte. Back then it was the little mom and pop natural food stores or the farmer’s market. So I had to really teach people in my community and people around me about these new methodologies of how to take care of your health and actually look at the root cause of what’s happening in your body. I started to realize that there were so many people out there beyond my friends and family who didn’t know the truth about what was happening in our food supply. I wanted to investigate it for them. And I wanted to investigate it for my own personal reasons. There are so many products that I thought were healthy but weren’t actually healthy. Things that I thought were good for me because they only had 400 calories or this many fat grams or they had the marketing of “eat fresh” at their fast food chain — I thought I was eating fresh, but I found out I wasn’t.

So I started to investigate these major fast food chains and major food companies. And then companies started reaching out to me. I think the first one was a yogurt chain who I was very upset with because they were really promoting the fact that they were using “organic milk” in their yogurt. And I thought, “This is amazing. This is so awesome. I could go to the mall and I can have this treat and it’s good for me.” But when you looked at the ingredients, they were coloring their products with artificial food dye. They were putting in preservatives and trans fats. Yes they were starting with organic milk, but they were adding 30 more chemicals to the concoction they put in the machines. So I wrote about that and how duped I felt, and it went so viral that the CEO of the company reached out to me, pulled the marketing off their stores, and apologized.

GEORGIA: Wow.

VANI: That was my first taste of activism, and my first taste of, “Oh my gosh, my voice can make a difference.” And then Chick-fil-A invited me to their headquarters after I wrote an article called “Chemical Filet or Chick-fil-A?” I showed the hundred ingredients that they have in their Chick-fil-A sandwich and how I thought they were healthier than going to McDonald’s. But when I compared them to the McDonald’s ingredients they were virtually the same. And this really shocked people. I mean, it went so viral that the executives at Chick-fil-A invited me to their headquarters to consult on their menu items on how to make their ingredients better.

When I was taking off work to go there to consult with them, instead of consulting with the banking institutions, I was like, “Okay, something got to give here. Like this is obviously way more impactful than what I’m doing at the banks.” So I ended up deciding to quit my job. I was not making a dime doing Food Babe. It was literally a passion project.

The beautiful thing that happened after I quit my job was, I was able to spend 100% of my time researching the food industry. And the first thing I did — you know, I was an avid traveler. I loved to travel, it’s been a passion of mine since I was a little girl. And whenever I would go to Europe or another country, I’d always feel better. I felt better. I liked the food better, it tasted better. And I thought, “What’s going on here? Why is it so different?” So I started to compare products that we have here in the United States to products that they sell in other countries — the exact same products. Like a Doritos package here in the United States versus a Doritos package in Europe. And I would compare the ingredients. I did this large investigation and I think the title is something like, “How U.S. Companies Are Exploiting Americans.” I showed these stark differences between the same product that’s being sold here and in other countries, and how in other countries they’re using better and safer ingredients. And while here they’re using man-made chemical additives. That side-by-side comparison went so viral that it was an opportunity to finally say, “You know what, we need to hold the food companies accountable for this.”

One of the examples in that investigation was Quaker Oats. Here in the United States, Quaker Oats has a “Strawberry and Cream” Quaker Oat pack, right? They had dyed Apple pieces to make them strawberry — dyed with a Red 40, an artificial food dye, linked to hyperactivity in children and can be contaminated with carcinogens. But in Europe, they’re using real strawberries. And you know, Quaker quickly got caught on that and that product doesn’t exist anymore, thankfully. But it was something that I just couldn’t believe the stark differences.

So I decided to take on one of the largest food companies in the world, which was Kraft at the time. They were serving little children Mac and Cheese with artificial food dyes — Yellow-5 and Yellow-6. Meanwhile, in Europe, they’re using paprika and beta carotene. It was a viral petition. It was so exciting, for the first time we were on national TV.

So I took them on. I remember it [the petition] gained a lot of steam, like 270,000 signatures, very quickly. And on April 1 — it wasn’t Happy April Fool’s Day for Kraft that day because I took the petition to their headquarters and I demanded a meeting and they sat down with me. I sat down and I looked them in the eye and I just said, “Why aren’t you doing this for American children? You already have the formulation in other countries. Why are we getting the man-made additives that are linked to all of these health issues that we’re experiencing? You know we have crazy chronic rates of disease with our kids, we have like close to half of children on some kind of medication. What is going on here?” And they looked at me and they said, “We have to agree to disagree.” And they dismissed me. And I thought, you know what? I’m not going to let up. I’m going to keep leading the charge. I’m going to keep educating the public. I’m going to tell people the truth about these chemicals.

Within six or seven months, they had to change because what happened was we were able to change the marketplace. People went from Kraft Macaroni and Cheese to their competitor, Annie’s, who didn’t use artificial food dyes. And then General Mills saw an opportunity — we’re going to buy Annie’s for $800 million. So, at that point, Kraft’s like, “Shoot, we’re going to lose all our market share. We need to change right now.” And they did.

The funniest part of it all, which just makes me laugh to this day, is whenever they told the press that they were making the change, they’re like, “It had nothing to do with the petition,” right? “It had nothing to do with the worldwide press on this issue.” So I took that momentum and took on more giants…

Sen Eric Schmitt Signals Support For Trump Tariffs

Sen. Eric Schmitt (R-MO) signaled support for President Donald Trump’s tariffs against China, Mexico, and Canada over the weekend.

Schmitt made the remarks during a Sunday interview on NBC News’ “Meet The Press” when asked why Trump was leveling harder tariffs against Canada than China.

“All we have to do is look at President Trump’s first four years where he instituted tariffs,” Schmitt said. “We didn’t see inflation. In fact, we saw record wage growth. We saw $200 billion plus go into the Treasury from those tariffs. Tariffs that help even the playing field with countries who have been ripping us off, quite frankly, for generations. China, specifically. I think the American people are tired of being ripped off.”

“They’re tired of seeing their jobs go overseas,” he continued. “But I think these tariffs specifically, Kristen, are meant to bring Canada and Mexico to the table for the fentanyl that is streaming into our communities. It’s also worth noting, in the last four years, that the trade imbalance and our trade deficit has gone up 200% plus with Canada and up 52% with Mexico.”

“The fact is, these countries are taking advantage of us,” he added. “All along the while, we’ve got fentanyl streaming into our country. So Mexico has a choice. They can choose to trade with the United States or continue to cozy up with the cartels. It’s pretty simple.”

Democrat Senator Mark Kelly: Deporting Illegal Aliens A ‘Really Bad Idea’

Sen. Mark Kelly (D-AZ), whose state has been at the forefront of former President Joe Biden’s illegal immigration crisis, signaled over the weekend that he does not support President Donald Trump deporting illegal aliens back to their home countries.

Kelly made the remarks during an NBC News interview on Sunday on “Meet The Press” when asked about ICE agents carrying out routine immigration raids.

“Do you support what you are seeing so far, the deportation plan, as it’s been carried out by the president?” asked host Kristen Welker.

“Yeah, I don’t,” Kelly said. “For a number of reasons. It seems to be more about intimidation of a big population of people. It’s going down the road of mass deportation, which he said he would do, which would rip communities apart. These are really bad ideas.”

“It’s all about scaring and intimidating people,” he said. “It’s the same thing for Guantanamo Bay. Building a facility there is because it just sounds very frightening to a lot of folks. When you’re a criminal, we need to find where you are and we need to take you into custody, and if you’re not documented, you should be returned. That makes sense. I’m all about public safety and border security. But we’ve got to do it in a way in accordance with our values.”

‘They Will Feel Pain’: Kristi Noem Weighs In On Trump’s Tariffs

Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem said over the weekend that the point of President Donald Trump’s tariffs on other countries is to “make them feel pain.”

Noem made the remarks during a Sunday interview on NBC News’ “Meet The Press” when asked about the tariffs Trump announced last week.

“These countries have an opportunity to get on board with the President of the United States and to partner with us to deal with illegal immigration, to take back their individuals that have been in our country illegally,” she said. “We want to repatriate them home. And they can be partners. So economically, yes, they will feel – they will feel pain. They will feel what this consequences are, and we’ll be able to continue to go forward with a president who’s strong, who’s putting America first.”

Host Kristen Welker noted that Trump indicated that the reason he was implementing the tariffs was to combat the trafficking of fentanyl and illegal aliens into the U.S.

When asked about tariffs leading to higher prices for consumers and how that helps Trump fulfill his campaign promise of lowering prices, Noem pointed to the administration’s recent spat with Colombia.

“You’ve seen the president take action already this week with Colombia,” Noem said. “And you saw Colombia react in a very positive way that was good for everyone involved. Canada, Mexico, other countries have the opportunity to do exactly the same. So we have a strong leader. He has laid down exactly what he is going to do and what the consequences are. I encourage their leadership teams to get on board and to make sure that they’re not pushing up prices.”

“If prices go up, it’s because of other people’s reactions to America’s laws,” she claimed. “And that’s what President Trump is doing. He is making sure that we’re not picking and choosing winners and losers, that the law applies equally to everybody, American citizens. It applies to those who are here illegally. And our world leaders across the country and across the world, they can help us, or they’re going to face some consequences.”

DNC Elects David Hogg To Top Role. Here’s A Look At Some Of His ‘INSANE’ Statements.

The Democratic National Committee (DNC) has chosen leftist activist David Hogg to serve in one of its top roles.

Over the weekend, DNC members picked Hogg to serve as vice chair alongside Artie Blanco and Malcolm Kenyatta. They also elected Ken Martin, a longtime leader of the Minnesota Democratic-Farmer-Labor Party, to become chairman.

Hogg became a high-profile gun control proponent after surviving the 2018 Parkland high school shooting in Florida in which 17 people were killed.

In his bid for DNC vice chair, Hogg was endorsed by Minnesota Governor Tim Walz, the Democratic Party’s failed vice-presidential candidate in the 2024 election.

As previously reported by The Daily Wire:

Hogg has a history of outlandish statements and self-promotion; in June 2022, he accused Florida GOP Sen. Marco Rubio of avoiding him because Hogg “triggered” him, writing in a later-deleted tweet, “Rubio staff said I can’t meet with him or his staff because I ‘trigger’ him. I just wanna have a conversation. Please meet with me @marcorubio I just want to figure out how we can stop these things from happening. We have to end the continuous debate and find what we can agree on.”

“No one said such a thing,” Rubio’s Chief of Staff Michael Needham responded to Hogg. “As for the meeting, you must be confused as we had a 2p meeting scheduled with you. However, since you are lying and clearly using this all for self-promotion, that meeting is now cancelled [sic]. … the reporter doing a profile of you knows the meeting is real since she was emailing yesterday with our comms team about it. Don’t lie again — we have receipts.”

— Michael Needham (@MikeNeedham) June 9, 2022

In August 2018, Hogg claimed that the “NRA is pulling strings to increase gun sales in a record low year.” He was immediately fact-checked:

There have been about 1 million more FBI background checks, the most reliable indicator of gun sales, this year than last year and this year is on pace to be the second-best in the history of NICS. So, no, gun sales are not experiencing a record low year. https://t.co/3TuvrVnvOu

— Stephen Gutowski (@StephenGutowski) August 24, 2018

In September 2020, Hogg stated, “The use of violence to acquire political power is deeply rooted in imperialism, capitalism and white supremacy[.] I personally refuse to believe that the use of this same violence will ever create nonviolent systems of government that represent and support everyone.” He later apologized, but added, “Let me be clear what I am NOT trying to do is tell BIPOC people how they should react to violence directed at them by the state. It’s not my place or any white persons to direct or criticize the way BIPOC people choose to defend themselves against this violence from the state.”

Hogg was accepted to Harvard University despite getting only a 1270 on his SATs. “The bottom 25% of students admitted had an average score of 1460,” Business Insider noted.

After Hogg was elected as DNC vice chair, Hogg’s critics took a moment to point out some of his prior comments.

“DNC Vice Chair David Hogg has some legitimately INSANE views that are wildly out of step with the American people,” said conservative communicator Steve Guest. “Good to see that the Democrat Party has learned absolutely nothing.”

Here’s some of what Guest and others highlighted:

King Of Jordan To Visit White House As Trump Calls For Nation To Take In Gaza Refugees

Jordan’s King Abdullah accepted an invitation to meet with President Donald Trump at the White House on February 11.

The meeting comes amid Trump’s repeated calls for Jordan and Egypt to take in refugees from Gaza, which he has described as a “demolition site.”

“King Abdullah II will meet with US President Donald Trump at the White House on Tuesday, February 11, 2025, after His Majesty received an invitation letter from President Trump last week,” the Jordanian palace said in a statement.

Trump has said that he believes Arab nations should step up to help build new lives for the refugees who have been living through 15 months of war.

“You’re talking about a million and a half people, and we just clean out that whole thing,” Trump said. “I don’t know, something has to happen, but it’s literally a demolition site right now. Almost everything’s demolished and people are dying there, so I’d rather get involved with some of the Arab nations and build housing in a different location where I think they could maybe live in peace for a change.”

Leaders of both Jordan and Egypt have rejected any such proposal.

“I think Jordan will take people, yeah, people from Gaza, and I think Egypt will take them also. I mean, I heard somebody said they’re not going to, but I think they will. I feel confident they will,” Trump also said when asked about his idea.

On Saturday, the foreign ministers of Qatar, Jordan, the United Arab Emirates, Saudi Arabia, Egypt, and the Secretary-General of the Executive Committee of the Palestine Liberation Organization (PLO) rejected Trump’s idea in a statement.

“They also rejected any efforts to encourage the transfer or uprooting of Palestinians from their land, under any circumstances or justifications,” the statement, released by the Qatari government, said. “Such actions, they noted, threaten regional stability, exacerbate the conflict, and undermine the prospects for peace and coexistence among the region’s peoples.”

Marco Rubio Gives Panama Ultimatum Over Chinese Influence On Canal

Secretary of State Marco Rubio gave Panama President José Raúl Mulino an ultimatum today over China’s growing influence over the Panama Canal in a face-to-face meeting.

According to State Department Spokesperson Tammy Bruce, Rubio informed Mulino that President Donald Trump has made a preliminary determination that the Chinese Communist Party’s “position of influence and control” over the Panama Canal is a violation of the Treaty Concerning the Permanent Neutrality and Operation of the Panama Canal.

“Secretary Rubio made clear that this status quo is unacceptable and that absent immediate changes, it would require the United States to take measures necessary to protect its rights under the Treaty,” the statement said.

The meeting comes as Trump has pressured Panama to reduce the influence of Chinese companies over the canal, which is vital to global trade. Trump argued that this influence could result in the canal being closed off to the U.S., posing a threat to national security and violating the treaty. He also pointed out that the U.S. was instrumental in building the canal in the early 1900s, with many Americans losing their lives during its construction.

Mulino has maintained that Panama controls the canal despite a Hong Kong company operating ports at both sides of the canal.

Rubio also thanked Mulino for his support of the program to repatriate illegal immigrants, which has reduced illegal migration through the Darien Gap.

In the meeting was also Panama’s Foreign Minister Javier Martínez-Acha.

Rubio kicked off his Central American tour in Panama today where, in addition to his meeting with the country’s leader, he is touring the Miraflores Locks at the Panama canal, and meeting with U.S. embassy staff and their families. Rubio will also visit El Salvador, Costa Rica, Guatemala, and the Dominican Republic from February 1 to 6.

Rubio’s trip is the first time a secretary of state chose to travel to Latin America as the first trip in over 100 years, reported Fox News.

Senator Warns Tulsi Gabbard’s Answer On Edward Snowden May Cost Her Being Confirmed

Sen. Mark Warner (D-VA) said during an interview over the weekend that former Rep. Tulsi Gabbard’s refusal to call Edward Snowden a traitor during her confirmation hearing last week could end up costing her.

Warner made the remarks during a Sunday interview with CBS News’ “Face The Nation” when asked by leftist host Margaret Brenna what Republicans senators are saying privately about her nomination.

“Edward Snowden released more information — probably did as much damage to our intelligence community as anyone in history,” Warner said. “And the fact that Ms. Gabbard — who actually had legislation to pardon Edward Snowden, she called him a brave whistleblower — couldn’t bring herself to call him a traitor, I think is disqualifying just on plain judgment.”

“What would that signal if she got in, would that send to the IC workers or contractors? Is she going to suddenly enforce the law if she called Snowden a brave whistleblower?” he asked. “And what I’m particularly concerned about is our sharing of information with our allies, that’s not written into law, that’s based on trust.”

“Will they really trust to share their intelligence with us if she can’t call out one of the worst traitors in recent American history as such, as a traitor?” he added.

He said that the Senate Intelligence Committee has historically been the most bipartisan committee in the U.S. Senate and that those who serve on the committee often will resist pressure from their own parties.

“But it’s not just Snowden, America’s most powerful intelligence tool is something we call Section 702, she left us totally confused on her views on that,” he continued. “And as well, her lack of judgment, whether it’s going to visit Assad when he was head of Syria, whether it was taking trips paid for by sketchy groups or echoing Putin’s comments somehow NATO started the war in Ukraine, that is not the judgment of somebody that would run 18 intelligence communities — agencies.”
